Which reMarkables this works on
Our reMarkable files are made for the reMarkable 2, reMarkable Paper Pure and reMarkable Paper Pro. Every route below sends the PDF to your reMarkable account, and it syncs to the tablet over Wi-Fi. Your tablet needs to be set up with the same account. Importing a PDF doesn’t need a Connect subscription.
Download your PDF to a computer or phone first. Your download links are in your order email.
From your computer: the desktop app
Open the reMarkable desktop app, click Import in the top menu and choose the PDF, or drag the PDF into the app window. The app runs on Windows 10 and newer and macOS 13 and newer.
From your phone: the mobile app
- iPhone: open the PDF, tap the Share icon and choose Import with reMarkable.
- Android: in the reMarkable app, open the main menu, tap Import, pick the PDF and tap Accept. You can also share the PDF from another app and choose Import with reMarkable.
From a browser: my.remarkable.com
Log in at my.remarkable.com, then drag the PDF into the page or click to browse for it. The file shows up in My files on your tablet. Files sent this way can be up to 100 MB, which covers all of our PDFs. reMarkable’s guide: About my.remarkable.com.
From Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive
If your PDF is already in one of these, link the service once at my.remarkable.com under Integrations. Then on the tablet open the menu, tap Integrations, pick the service, press and hold the PDF and tap Import. The file is copied to My files, so it works offline. reMarkable’s guide: Integrations.
Writing on the pages and using the links
Once the PDF is on the tablet, open it from My files and write on any page with the Marker. Tap a link in the page, such as an index entry or a breadcrumb, to jump to that page. reMarkable has supported tap links inside PDFs since software version 2.6, so if links do nothing, check that your tablet is up to date.
Can I type on the pages with the Type Folio?
reMarkable’s guides describe typing with the Type Folio, or the on-screen keyboard, in notebooks, and none of them shows typing onto the pages of a PDF. Our files are PDFs made for handwriting, so write on them with the Marker. reMarkable’s guide: Integrate typing and handwriting.
If the PDF doesn’t show up on the tablet
- Make sure the tablet is on Wi-Fi. Networks that need a login page in a browser, like some hotel or office Wi-Fi, won’t work for syncing.
- Check that the app and the tablet are signed in to the same reMarkable account.
- Check the sync status on the tablet in Settings.
