“I had my coffee this morning but no, I couldn’t afford a sitting that is long enough to have my eggs and toast. I had to leave…”
“I might be late for the meeting. I will grab something on my way.”
“Mom, I am really busy, sorry won’t be able to pick you up.”
“I wish I could spend more time with you. It was really nice meeting you, but I have to leave.”
How frequently do we hear phrases like this? They sound like an everyday dialogue that we have unintentionally programmed in ourselves. We live in a world full of people who are continuously on the move. We are running, but we need to figure out what and where our destiny is. How far do we have to go? How much longer can we keep going like this? I am not sure what I am chasing, but since everyone is in a rush and running, I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be. Run, let’s run, and do not waste our time asking questions, or else we will be left behind.
This constant rush has drained our energies, and we all seemed mentally exhausted most of the time. Our physical and mental existences are on two different paths, in two different situations, while we brainwash ourselves into believing we are on the path to success.
Let’s stay for a moment long enough to take a deep breath. Slow down to take a break and ask questions. Ask yourself what you are running after. Are you chasing a butterfly, or are you running because your friend is running and everyone else around you is running?
Most of the time, the truth will amaze you with the fact that you have no clue about the path you are running towards. That’s when it is essential to realize you need to slow down to figure out your individuality. Instead of running aimlessly toward building a materialistic life, try to understand what is more important. It might not be your career or your relationship, perhaps it is not even important to run for what your partner is — maybe it is important to slow down and take your time to become what you are, who you are, and what is your individuality that makes you different from the rest. It’s okay to slow down! Perhaps it’s time you become yourself…
